American Idol 2011-04-08 02:16:55

I don't know about you guys but I am really enjoying this season so far

I've always watched because I enjoyed one or two of the singers on the show but this season I can honestly say I enjoy all of them to some degree and I wish I could see all of them have some kind of success.

Who is following it this season? What do you think?

I'm not sure why I don't follow American Idol here. Its on tv sometimes. And I do enjoy Simon Cowell so I should be getting my fix of him as he won't be doing Britains Got Talent this year :(

I love tacky shows like this. I just wish they were harsher on them like the old days.

Once Simon Cowell left I stopped watching the auditions on American Idol, and I never watched any more than just the auditions.

Simon Cowell left the show midway through last season

Now it's Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, and Randy Whatshislastnameidontknow

Jackson.

That's what I thought it was but then I thought I was just assuming his last name was Jackson because he is black and that's not the kind of person I am.

Also this, best performance of the season IMO

Yeah, I haven't watched an episode other than the auditions for years. It's only good when they show the best and worst.

Oh he left? Then I would have no reason to watch it :C

He's planning to do "X-Factor" over there right?

I should have remembered. If anything thats the better show over here. They used to have 'Pop Idol' then I believe Simon wanted a show to offer more then just 'pop' so he ditched that and changed it all to X-Factor. Almost the same show, just with different judges and supposedly more variety in the singers.

Been popular ever since.

I hope he makes it work over there.

Yeah, they're bringing it over here.

A lot of people don't watch American Idol because it's mostly pop and RnB which is fine by me I can enjoy it all the same but if X Factor reaches out to more fan bases and the like who knows. I don't really think they'll get much more of an audience either way unless Simon Cowell's return is enough to get people watching again, which it probably is.

I really like Jacob, Haley and Paul too. Jacob is everything I love about soul even if sometimes it feels like he's holding back, Haley is easily the most interesting of the female vocalists and Paul reminds me of Rod Stewart which is always a good thing.

I also really like Stefano, something about his enunciation and of course the clarity of his voice is really good, I loved him when he did 'Hello' and 'When a Man Loves a Woman'. I didn't like Casey at first but I loved his rendition of CCR's 'Have You Ever Seen the Rain'.

I watch it while following along with the recap comedian Paul F. Tompkins writes for the show.

It's amazing.

The judges are terrible.

Yeah I can see what you mean, personal preference has me liking Stefano more but I don't think he will be around much longer and Pia was definitely a stronger vocalist overall.

that and a great ass

Mmmmmmmmmm

also, my favorite performances from Haley and Casey. Haley's just got one sexy voice, and Casey is probably the artist of this season.

Haley's version of 'Bennie and the Jets' really set her apart, she needed it to keep her in the game and she showed up. Casey may not be my favorite but he definitely can take more risks than anyone else, and he does so.

Yeah most people I know just watch the auditions and possibly the last few shows when there are like four or five people left lol

My family always watches American Idol for our family TV time. We've been watching since part way through Season 1. I have to say this is the best season in a long time, if not ever. They are probably all better than many of past winners.

One thing I found that I thought was cool was a 2008 performance by James Durbin. Many people say he is just copying Adam Lambert, but he was doing his thing before anyone knew who Adam Lambert was:

I have only watched season 1 of the original show (Idols).
The following seasons and spin-offs in my country (the Netherlands) alone are retarded and fucking boring.

Response to American Idol 2011-04-14 02:08:52

I have never watched a single episode of American Idol.

I don't know what it was about watching Paul go up their and sing Maggie May for the last time that just put the widest smile I've felt in a long time on my face. I mean I love Rod Stewart, like every other rational human being, and I love that song but there was something about the way Paul did it and the context that just made me smile.

I think i'm gonna miss him even more than I realized, but Stefano is still safe, so it's all good.

I don't watch American idol. It's not that I don't like it, it's just the type of show that appeals to me.

Bringing back old shit.
